Excited...Packing

All three little ones are packed.

The teenager is already on vacation with her real mother's "real" mother...Charley is packed and waitin' on me like a man should.

Camp begins in T minus 16 hours and I am nervous. It is hard to leave these little ones we have grown to love and ard to face the uncertainty of the injured hearts of this kind of camp. A camp full of foster children.

This our camp's second year, last year we struggled to get campers because no one on this side of the state had ever heard of Royal Family Kids Camp. Four weeks before camp was to happen we did not have ONE camper. We went with 34 campers. This year however, we are FULL with 64 campers, plus there is a waiting in case someone does not show up. (The deal is the "waiting list kids" are told to be packed and ready, but that they will not get to go unless someone else doesn't show up.)

It is harder to get men to be counselors than it is to get women do this job thus I think it is so great that my husband does this. But, then it is also harder to get these boy's "real" dads to stay in their lives too.

For all you men out there that are involved in your kids lives you HAVE NO IDEA just how important that truly is.

Pray for us.

  1. That has always been a stickler with me in getting men to participate regularly in their children's lives. Enjoy!

  3. I'm so lucky... Joe is always a big part of the kids activities... How sad for the waiting campers... That is too much for one to take, Packed and ready to go and no phone call....

I'm praying for a wonderful trip with beautiful memories for everyone.

  4. I think it is wonderful that you two are doing this! Especially your husband. It is so important for children to have a positive male role model in their life (even if it is not their own father)....what a wonderful husband you have to be willing to be that person to so many children!

You both continue to inspire me! Please tell us all about it when you return. Take care.

  6. I never have understood why men are often so reluctant to take part in activities like this. Fathers impact the lives of their children in the most profound ways. Maybe they simply underestimate their own worth.

    Have a joyful time.
