Friday

Last Friday my church had a dinner for the volunteers at our church, of which the count is about 700 people out of our 1500 member congregation that volunteer in some way during the year. About half.

This was the first time since we have been part of the church that they threw us a party and it was themed 50s & 60s because our volunteers rock. We got to go in costume and just have a good time.

There were also people recognized in each area that we can serve and I got children's Sunday School teacher of the year because I go out of my way to maintain relationships with my kids outside of the Sunday School class...I send them notes at least every other month and if they miss a bunch of Sundays.

Funny thing was I was feeling guilty this year because I use to send notes every month but with six kids I am finding it harder to find the time to write. I actually thought I was doing a lousy job. LOL

Sunday School

One of my guilty pleasures is that I still teach Sunday School to first graders, guilty pleasure because there is no greater joy than other people's kids. It is a fact that I can not truly explain except to say that kids never cease to amaze me in their fresh perspectives.

Our church uses a curriculum that encourages the kids to memorize a bible verse each month and to apply the virtue to their lives. This month's virtue is patience, funny for a woman with six kid's. The word is defined as: waiting for later for something you want now.

The verse is: Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27.14

One that is bite size for six and seven year olds...really for all our kids to eat. Right?

Last Sunday we were praticing the verse and one little girl said it perfectly.

I asked her "Were do you find it in the Bible?"

Without missing a beat she replied:

"Possum 27.14"

I had to turn away before I peed myself.

I know we live in a small town and all...

One year ago today I began to eat differently. It is called the Ketogenic diet and the information is out there for free ...
