Lions, Tigers and HAMSTERS.....
oh my
I have been sick.
Very sick...acute bronchitis (as opposed to ugly bronchitis) since New Year's Day. I have been a very good girl and gone to the doctor, taken his antibiotics, two weeks of cough medicine and am still sick. This is why I have been mostly absent. I am too sick and tired at night to do anything but fall asleep on the couch waiting for my shots.
In addition, I have discovered something interesting about Rebif...AFTER having been on it for over a year I read the box it comes in. Now, being a bright girl, I usually read the medical insert that comes with medicine but for some reason I just did not ever read the ingredients list.
What are the ingredients? (I can hear you thinking.)
90% saline solution...no wonder they hurt. Duh.
And the ACTIVE ingredient?????
What could it be? (Here's were I mention again that this is a disease with no known cause or cure....)
Are you ready for this?
drum roll please......
Chinese Hamster Ovaries.
Really.
One wonders:
How do they harvest Chinese Hamster Ovaries?
Why just the ovaries?
Why Chinese as opposed to American hamsters?
Who ever sat in a lab and considered hamster ovaries?
Who, after pondering them, decided to try and curtail MS with them?
What is this world coming to????
No wonder I crave cheese and dark cozy spaces....and am oddly attracted to saw dust.

LOL its great that you can laugh about these things... as for the Hamsters.... well.... For menopause they use the urine of pregnant mares for hormonal drugs... now.. thats just gross.....
by the way... you can get a synthetic version... which is what my mother did.

Now, that is what I call a wonderful ability to laugh at your situation. It's hard for me to summon that kind of courage. Touche, good for you. I hope you are over your bronchitis SOON. http://journals.aol.com/theresarrt7/TheresaWilliams-author/

Are you serious?! Poor hamsters! I swear. I want to take the Tysabri (Antegren) I wonder what THAT has in it. I wish little animals didn't have to die so we can feel better. It's very hard for me to know that and take the meds. I know some people think I'm sentimental but I've always been that way even when I lived on a working farm...the killing still bothered me.Sorry you are not feeling well. Did you get the Flu shot? I didn't and now have a cold and hoping it doesn't get worse.
Feel good. Rest...rest...rest.

Oh my!! Medicine has come so, so far! You see this and you think, like you said, WHO THOUGHT OF THIS?? WHO TRIED THIS?? I guess there was a reason behind it. Must be a hormone in it. But why Chinese? LOL I do love cheese myself!! I am so, so sorry you are so sick, honey. You are in my daily prayers! xox

Hampster ovaries? Geez! Well, I once had to take a medication that was from the testicles of bulls and I thought that was weird.
Hope you get better real soon.
