The Walk!!!! (and other random thoughts)
Yes, I know, it's about time!!!!

The weather was perfect and the walk was right beside the Columbia River in the Columbia Basin....the trees near the river must be at least 75 years old and are the trees one thinks of whenever someone mentions "trees." Old, weathered, knarled, 40 to 60 feet tall and full of spring greenry. I opted to carry my new, magical cane instead of my great-grandpa's since this walk was the main reason I wanted it. It brought me walking power! We (I) made it thru the whole walk on Saturday and I am proud to say the we collected more money than I had thought possible!!!! This is due almost solely to the support of my wonderful friends here on line. God bless each of you because somewhere out there is a chronically ill person, whom you do not know, that is thanking God for YOU today. The money is used for research and for helping those of us with this disease in ways that most would never imagine. They will even help pay for MRI's, wheel chairs, personal cooling devices, canes and so much more. Again I am grateful for the love and kindness shown to me and for the community I feel here. Our little team (which included Alexis at the last minute) made it the whole four miles and raised a total of $270 dollars...all of which is already in the NMSS hands! YEAH!

He does provide!!

Now for other random news...we are slowly getting unpacked and came to some interesting conclusions this weekend.

We thought that we were moving here to be near family and have discovered, that in Charley's absence the last 7 years, they aren't as dependable as he remembered....BUT....I think our real mission here in Pasco, Washington was to find a church to attend and to take his sister's children to church. This Sunday we, a couple who can not have children of our own, ended up taking five children to church. It was a surprise to us as we were only expecting to take two (2) and the other three (3) invited themselves !!!

My nine year old niece now knows who Jesus is. Alexis went to see the Easter church presentation of the Passion with us last Saturday and then took her cousin BY THEMSLEVES on Sunday night....they are 11 and 12. We didn't know they went Easter night.

My nephew, Alexis and her cousin invited themselves to church this Sunday. The church elders called people to the front to pray at service; I went and tearfully asked them to pray for the children we'd brought to church.....this may be how God is planning to use Charley and I.

Good job on the MS walk. I know what a good cause it is.
I hope you get setteled in to your new home and that you enjoy it very much.
I wish you were my neighbor right now. I sure could use a good friend to talk to now and again. Blessing to you for caring about those of us that have MS.

So glad the walk went well for you. Sorry I didn't give more but we went to my brother's in Dallas for "Thanksgiving" as he was in the hospital on 11/25 so didn't get to go then. Had a wonderful visit, just too short.
Glad you are all moved and know it will be nice to be 'alone' again.
Take care of yourself, I think of you everyday.

are the trees one thinks of whenever someone mentions "trees." = yet another phrase to be filed in the "wish I'd said that" folder marked Christina!

You had more than magic cane walking with you, huh?

So glad.

That is all wonderful news! WTG with the walk, you surely will be blessed. And it got me misty eyed when you talked about bring your family to church. It is very true we may make a move with one intention but the Lord has differnt plans, better plans, bigger plans than we could ever imagin.

Much love,
Mary
