So these kids wanted to go to church last night, to the youth "thingy" and asked me to take them. (Call me a sucker Aunt but I took them with joy. It's called Indentity Youth.) We walked in to the kids auditorium and it was all done up like a lounge in the sixties with cool retro lamps and parachutes draped from the ceiling. There were kids skateboarding in the parking lot. Each kid was surprised to KNOW other kids at the bible study. (None of them realize they went to bible study, it's my little secret.) I am very worried about them in general and was surprised that they wanted to go....last night's lesson was about fitting in and not turning to suicide as a solution.
Wow.
Double wow....both of these kids have considered death as an option.
~Alexis told me what it was about, my niece and nephew just stated that they want to go again and again.~
They are now so pumped to go to church they can't wait for Sunday and next Tuesday and the next Sunday and ..... get the point?
Church is cheaper than therapy.

Suicide is certainly a serious problem with today's youth. I am glad to hear that churches are addressing this issue, and that the kids want to find out more. Knowledge IS power, in this case, may be even more powerful than death.

Wow is right! It breaks my heart to know that both kids have contemplated suicide...what deep sadness they must have felt during that moment or perhaps moments in their young lives. Christina, though it kills me that we live on opposite sides of the country, I thank God that he has ead you on such a wonderful path! You may have saved a childs life just by being there. Thank you honey for caring for others the way you do. I love you, Mom

better than theraphy! lol and I am glad you are there for these kids, you are so right that this may very well be why God sent you to where you are living now.
To answer your question, No I do not read the Left Behind books at all. I did see the first movie and found it to be comical. Not a fan of Tim Lahaye. I dont want to go into a rant here about it, maybe I will post why believe the way I do in my journal in the next few days.
I don't know much about the Seven Day Adventist that you spoke of making you feel little hope in being saved, but to me just reading what the Bible says fills me with hope, not what anyone man says.

Every kid craves a place where they can belong; it sounds like your youth pastors (or whatever) are doing a good job appealing to them. I truly hope the kids can bring something positive out of the experience. Lisa :-]

I can't remember how many times I've gone to church and found something in the service that seemed to be in there just for me, touching on something currently relevant in my life. I see those times as little miracles.

I dream in color, write poetry, talk about God, parent kids and finally wonder about it all
