Steady

And always I gather myself to find the edges have softened with time. My husband gave my heart's desire for Christmas ~ a real flute and I have played it softly. Fondling the pads and blowing into the mouthpiece producing tones that sound like noise.

Joyful noise.

This week I will wander into a music store and buy some sheet music to see if I can remember how to read it, how to put the notes together and where my fingers go. To play more noise on my new flute that probably use to belong to someone else.

The noise I make sounds like poems to me.

Happy new life!

Now I can put a check mark next to one of must do before I die items...I WILL learn to play the flute again.

It is a good life.

(By the way, while he was playing his Playstation Two, a thing for which I have no use...He yelled down the hall..."What is that noise?" Later he told me he really pondered the whole flute thing because he KNEW I'd want to play it. LOL.)

Goodness. I made him mute the game. :)

  2. I consider music the bridge between man and the Divine. Mankind cannot possibly be solely responsible for the transcendant beauty of music. Play, Christina. You will give voice to the angels.

  3. Yayyy ... maybe after a while you can record a piece for all of us! Actually, think you should figure out recording now, so we can tell you if'n your improving! I love piano, but flute runs a close second best! And, if Charley gets too bad, remember flute sounds really cool behind the closed bathroom door! Just wait 'til the warmer months ... Yayyy outside concerts on the veranda! Practice Christina, keep practicin!

  4. Hi Chris,
I forgot you use to play the flute. I played too in Grade school. I still have mine from then. I tried to get my oldest to play and she chose the clarinet. My son chose drums and I have one more to convince to play the flute. I also love to hear the flute playing.
I forget how much in common we had together.
I'm trying this blog thing and it is fun and challanging at the same time. Since I'm awful at computers... ie; self taught.
Hope you have a great week.

  10. What a GREAT gift! I love the sound of the flute--it's my favorite, soothing, meditating, healthy-breathing music. Nice to think about you re-learning how to play. Enjoy, oh, enjoy!

  11. Woo Hoo! A concert! We used to play the clarinet, and for a long while, we played recorders ... memories! I am betting Christina you'd be a flautist guru after a small bit of time. Agreeing with Barb, you have the spirit for music! I'd be glad to help whenever, unless others have suggestions on how to do it, the method I've used for recording you only need to pay $4 per month and you would need a microphone. Concert, concert the crowd screams!
