Somewhere in the secret mothering book is the line:

"It is absolutely necessary to embarrass your offspring from time to time, it will develop their stamina and their resolve."

I remember a story that I read a long time ago, was it yours? About a catterpillar trying to break out of its cocoon. All its struggles to break out actually help make it stronger. I suppose the same thing applies to our children!
