What Child Is This?
William Chatterton Dix, published ca. 1865
What Child is this, who laid
to rest, On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet
with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary. Why lies He in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear: for sinners here,
The silent Word is pleading.
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary. Nails, spear, shall pierce
Him through, The Cross be borne, for me, for you:
Hail, hail, the Word made flesh, The Babe, the Son of Mary! This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary. So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh;
Come peasant, king to own Him.
The King of Kings salvation brings;
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary. Raise, raise, the song on high,
The Virgin sings her lullaby:
Joy joy for Christ is born, The Babe, the Son of Mary!
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary.
A Baby Just Like You
John Denver, J. Henry (c) 1975
The season is upon us now
A time for gifts and giving
And as the year draws to its close
I think about my living
The Christmas time when I was young,
The magic and the wonder,
But colors dull and candles dim,
And dark my standing under
O little Zachary, shining light
You've set my soul to dreaming
You've given back my joy in life
And filled me with new meaning
A Savior King was born that day,
A baby just like you,
And as the Magi came with gifts,
I come with my gift too
That peace on Earth fills up your time,
That brotherhood surrounds you.
That you may know the warmth of love,
And wrap it all around you
It's just a wish, a dream I'm told
From days when I was young
Merry Christmas, little Zachary
Merry Christmas, everyone
Merry Christmas, little Zachary
Merry Christmas,everyone

Here's the site I borrowed the words from......
I dream in color, write poetry, talk about God, parent kids and finally wonder about it all
