My life

The beginning is the most important part of any work.

- Plato

Somedays it seems to me that I have lived several lives and I stand back amazed that any of them have led to here. To a gentle peace that just sort of clings to the air in my world. Childhood was magical to me....a place where sinks became boats and bathtubs became marvelous pirate ships. I had dolls that held the secrets of the universe and a book that helped me see that seagulls, although dull by the masses, could also strive for glory and freedom. I had books where the princess always had a happily ever after and a white canopy bed that doubled as palace. The dresser became a stove, a dressing room and a treasurer chest....all in the same day.

I had mud puddles where I could play for hours making good stuff. I was a potter, I was a chef, I was a cast making fool who could repair anyone's broken arm with a mud cast.

How wonderful is it that somewhere God has planted those seeds in my heart and when no one seems to be looking I can be caught humming:

"Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down, the medicine go down, in the most delightful way."

Some people will understand this and some people will blame me for being slightly Polly Annish again. Really though I believe it is the result of a playful girl who peeks out from under my eyelashes...a girl who doesn't realize she is almost 40.

She is the one who still remembers most of the words to this song....

"Come and play, everything's A-ok. Can you tell me how to get, how to get to sesame Street."

I love the music that plays in my heart.

No one has yet convinced me that it is prudent to ever become completely adult. In fact, I barely have more than a toe in the water of THAT stream... Lisa :-]

Isn't it nice, to locate and be joyful about something that lives within you?
I don't have happy memories like yours...But, there are some.
I am glad that little girl is so in touch with the adult that is you now. :)

I love this entry so much because I understand it. I hum when people are looking and when they're not. I sang that "Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down, in the most delightful way. " I smiled when you said some people might blame you for being slightly Polly Annish again. Why? Because that was what people called me for many years. It used to sting my heart till I realized I am who I am, feel what I feel and sing what I sing...because God made me this way. Hugs, my sweet friend. *Barb*

There's a kid in me, and I love having it there. I hope I never lose her.
