Thursday

Even though John M Scalzi ignored me the other day I am going to do this assignment because I am a sucker for love and weddings!

"Weekend Assignment #24: Tell us what the first song was at your wedding reception and why you chose that song. If you're not already married, tell us the song you would like to have played first at your wedding reception. Also, for the purposes of this assignment, those of you who have had commitment ceremonies can join in the fun (it's that whole "we're going to spend the rest of our lives together, and now we're going to dance" thing).

Extra Credit: What song did you make sure wasn't played at your reception?"

I want to share that because I was a grown up when we got married (just five years ago) our wedding colors were white, black and red roses....very sexy colors. The first song we danced to was so easy for us to choose....it was off the Hope Floats CD....

"I don't regret the rain or the nights I felt the pain, it was just something I had to do to get me to you."

The words to this song so perfectly sum up my life before Charley Brown......read more here.

And the song that HE didn't allow at our wedding??? Does anyone have a guess?

The theme to Charlie Brown.

He paid the DJ to not play it NO MATTER WHAT!

Extra, extra credit...since I did not have a living father, my mom and I danced to Hero by Bette Midler.....

"you are the wind beneath my wings....did you ever know you are my hero, you're everything I wish I could be....it was touching, funny and somewhat sad..."

==============================================

I stoled this from Vince....sorry, couldn't help myself. And I am republican....lol.

'Butterfly Kisses"... to dance with my Dad, which didn't happen. "Lady in Red' for the first dance with my husband. He passed away from cancer 2-17-98. My second husband and I got married in Maui, our wedding song was in 'hawaiin" and it was about how love brought us together in this time and place, the minister expained it and it was amazingly appropriate, things in life all happen for a reason.
I've been lurking awhile, Erica

Steve loved the bumper sticker and I went to the 'Vince' site. But who is this guy, there was not any type of description.
Our rain and winds have finally stopped and I am so glad. Also, glad it missed your Mom again.
Love you my Dear,

We had a German wedding band at our reception. I have no idea what they played...probably "Proud Mary" or something. We (I) DID, however, carefully choose the songs that were played at our wedding:
Processional #1--Annie's Song--John Denver
Processional #2--The Wedding Song--Paul Stookey
Communion Song--Turn, Turn, Turn...Written by Pete Seeger, performed by Judy Collins
Played while I placed flowers and prayed at the statue of the Virgin (Catholic wedding) --"Since You've Asked"--Judy Collins
Recessional--"I Believe When I Fall in Love With You (It Will Be Forever)--Written by Stevie Wonder. Performed by Art Garfunkel.
To this day, any one of these songs can bring chills to my spine and tears to my eyes... Lisa :-]
