men & pain

Are all men pansies or just my man?

This is not a rhetorical question, I really want to know.

Charley had his staples out yesterday and almost bawled.

Kept asking if it was normal for there to be hard lumps around the incision lines.

I giggled at him.

I have miles of incisions...and tones of old staple marks.

Industrial size staples secured by doctors who were saving my life, not my vanity.

He had, what, ten little staples and then complained to ME about impending scars.

Silly man.

  1. In my experience, yes, men are pansies when it comes to pain. Clucking my tongue and shaking my head, poor dears. I have read though that women not only have more dermal nerve endings than men, making us feel pain (and everything else) more acutely, but we also release pain minimizing chemicals more quickly, enabling us to handle it better. It doesn't look like they can really help it. By the way, wear those scars with pride! Each one is a tribute to your strength.

  2. All men are woosies. My husband can NOT deal with pain. Any little twinge and he's hollering for drugs...

  3. I could not EVEN imagine if Men had to bear children... My husband hates doctors (ironically) and has seen the dark side of the medical profession.... But thank God, he is alright... A little for wear and tear ie: scar tissue and adhesions, but still alive. But he has made it know every bit of the way... Can't live w/ them can't live without them... (not as much fun)...
