New peace

  • EULABEIA ~ a fear that means to have reverence or upmost respect, specifically the kind one shows towards God.
  • PHOBEO ~ to be seized with fear or paralyzed by fear, this fear can be healthy if it keeps one from doing something careless or foolish.
  • DEILIA ~ a fear full of timidity and cowardice, this fear is completely unhealthy and stifling.

"Fear is the wrong use of imagination ~ it is anticipation of the worst, not the best that can happen."

Thinking about fear seems like an odd thing for the new year doesn't it?

But fear is what robs each of us from all that God has in store for our life.

Fear steals our total joy.

That is worth repeating:
Living in fear robs you of your joy.
Living with "What If" keeps you from happiness.
Fear prevents you from enjoying your life Right Now. Today.
Happiness and passion are your right.

It is in overcoming our fears and overcoming our pains that we actually live our lives. That we reach the passions we are meant to have. We tastes the glories of this life that we have been blessed with for yet another year. Most people come upon the new year with goals of what they want to do better for themselves and for others.

There are parts of my soul that have those thoughts, but they are just fleeting little bleeps because my big dreams are so much more~I want:

to touch the stars, hear the laughter of child I call mine, sigh a good sigh, say I love you endlessly, be good, do good, lead someone to God, play the flute, feel the sun on my back, hear the seagulls sing, touch the sand on my toes, listen to angels sing, drink too much, sing with my mom, dance too much, run naked in the snow, swim with the dolphins, climb a mountain, serve elderly soup, save the whales, save the world, save Africa, save my money, collect poetry, scatter poetry, paint my house, paint with my mom, buy my house, wish upon the stars, dream dreams, run with the moon, help mom forgive, meet Lisa, read more, plant trees, capture myself, figure out my camera, be happy

These are very lovely things, yes indeed.

But fear could keep me from reaching for them.

So just like unforgiveness, fear can paralize too.

Both fear and unforgiveness must be banished from our hearts to thrive.

Is it easy?

No.

But do I want to believe? Absolutely.

  1. Morning Christina,

You've gone a long way from last night to this morning, in revealing thoughts of fear to yourself and us. I appreciate your style, because I use to cover it just like you through dictionary and other resources. I once spent 32 pages in defining the word subtle because my psychologist at the time called me this. I think the study of words to be important.

Now though, what I think is more important is not only to look at things that are difficult to face, but as well study the words that give us faith and courage. For that, of course, there is the Bible, but I choose to do like you had done with the word "fear," and study words like "hope, blessing, joy, and discover."

It's more tied up in our present version of life where we are more positively goal and objective orientated. We're learning in the multi-cultural course, that this kind of linear thinking is primarily White American, but nonetheless we find it helpful. It's sort of like saying, ok, next what do I want to figure out!

Your New Years sounded inspired and has been inspiring to us!! Keep learning YAYYYYY!!!

    Our love

  4. Just stopping by to catch up with your journal. It is interesting that we both started out the new year discussing fear. Since I started blogging this past year, I have used nearly every synonym you listed from the online dictionary. I use the word "phobia" sometimes; it has a clinical ring to it. I consider my anxiety a "phobeo," and I pray it is not a "deilia." The fact that I pray is an "eulabeia," and this category of fear is one I will gladly keep.
