The Beagle Strikes Again
Peanut, our adorable passive aggressive puppy dog, has struck again. His escapades can be reviewed in this entry....but what is his newest form of torture? He is going to be 8 this year, which in doggy years is what, 56? Anyone who knows men or is a man knows that at 56 a man starts to get stubborn. Not obstinate and mean but just kinda stubborn and set in their ways.

Peanut is a 56 year old beagle with attitude, who sleeps in our room on a dog bed and we sleep with the door closed. Why is this relevant you ask? Because he must wake us up to go potty, to get a drink of water or grab a midnight snack. Like any 56 year old man he likes to forage after midnight. Sometimes this little man just wants to sleep walk. I digress.

Peanut's newest trick is he comes and wakes me up by whining growling until I stir and then he nudges me until I get up. ( We sleep with three alarms so waking either of us is challenging. ) I'll get up and literally stumble around trying to put on pajama bottoms in case anything else is stirring at 2 or 3 am in my neighborhood. ~the fences here are charming and chainlink~ Anyway, we'll get up and leave our room, Peanut will go and grab a bite of food and a few sips of water while I go open the door for his yard inspection.

It's late, I am sleepy and I keep the lights off, I open the door and get on line to check for comments, stumble thru J-AOL land and wait for my little furry hero.

What does Peanut do? He slithers back into our room, jumps up on our bed, stretches out in his full 30 pound glory on my side of the bed, falls promptly to sleep and snores.

He doesn't want out, he's not hungry or thirsty~he wants MY BED. It takes me about 15 minutes to realize I've been fooled again by a furry old man.

This was so cute! But, I guess in the wee hours of the night, it's not so cute.

sounds like a smart dog to me! our dog (spaniel, named Honey) is probably 10 now, so what does that make him? 70? we don't know, he was a stray we adopted when we moved in here. but about once a month he has terrible diarrhea episodes in the middle of the night, sometimes he wakes us to get out, sometimes not. the vet doesn't know what it is, and we are getting really worried about it. anyway, what i really want to say is an immense thank you for your very kind comments in my journals, especially the one you left on windmills. i am humbled. i think the book journal entry is readable now, i just went and took out any of the text changes that the html situation had messed up.
