Over at A Dog's Life I found this game that is really from Robbie's big "IF" book and I must play yet again.....I shoulda known a dog wouldn't have a copy of The Book, geez.
If you could adopt one personality trait from someone you know, what would you take, and from whom?
Where do I begin with this one? Is there truly a starting point for the things one desires or do they all start, stop and sometimes just hang in limbo to be recognized as needs or mistakes at some other point in time?
There are so many people, so many choices....
(Here's where my exhaustive mind wonders if there are rules to this game, like what does "someone I know" really mean? To know them in the live, face to face method? To know them because I have read their words written decades ago which were published after their death? To know the people I treasure here in our little community? To know people from my past that have indubitably changed? To know my memories of how things were or could have been? To know the greatness that the media has shown me from people I could never meet? What does it mean to know? I digress yet again.)
If you could adopt one personality trait from someone you know, what would you take, and from whom?
So I repeat the question and challenge myself to be honest.
To pick just one seems wrong to me. I lack in so many ways on a daily basis...which isn't saying I am lacking in self esteem but acknowledging my pure humanity.
There are people that are just truly funny and I want that.
There are people who are consistently eloquent and I want that.
There are people who are completely loving and I want that.
There are people who don't even realize a glass can be half full or empty and I want that.
But, what do I really covet? Truly in my secret heart? Honestly?
The ability to completely forgive and forget. To behave in such a manner that I do not need to apologize for my behavior. To be faithfully loving to all life regardless of their failures. And this I cannot take from the only one who has done it on earth but I can surely try to follow Him.

hmmm. that characteristic I covet, too. I think HubbyJoe has that. completely non-judgmental. Interesting. I said, the ability to forgive and forget, too.
Only both of those "skills" have also lessened my appreciation of life at times, too.
It's a poser. thanks a lot, krobbie! makin' us just stew and stew and stew.

Ahh, a good thing to wish for, since it's so difficult to do. I wonder what would happen if all of us had that ability. There wouldn't be any fights, disagreements or wars. The world will be a happier, more peaceful place. And I bet we would all have less wrinkles, too. =P

oh heavens no....I would be unable to be perfect....just to grow more like Christ. And to trust that I am saved despite myself.

Nice entry! So tell me, if I hear you right. You want to be perfect. ;-)
Oh and you'll notice I don't leave any rules so you can interpret the questions how ever you want. ;-p ---Robbie

I dream in color, write poetry, talk about God, parent kids and finally wonder about it all
