I live in a small town (population 150K give or take) just off the Columbia River~an area known as wine country in these parts. You know the Columbia River, right?

Heard of Lewis and Clark?

You know of the Snake River? The river is the main waterway flowing to the Pacific Ocean and the beautiful Northwest Coastline. The Columbia leads to the part of Washington that earned the title “Evergreen State,” the part of the state that each of you thinks of whenever I mention that I live in Washington, the state not D.C.

Hopefully you now have a vivid image of my little slice of Washington because there is something amiss in Denmark. Eastern Washington is approximately 4 hours from the ocean and all that that encompasses…but there are some birds that live in my town that are quite lost. We have a very large population of SEAGULLS.

They are everywhere and it feels so odd to hear them in the morning when I KNOW that I’m a long way from the ocean and for goodness sakes, my house is built right in the middle of an old cow pasture. I grew up around the ocean and seagulls feel like home to me. I read Jonathan Livingston Seagull in 7th grade and still have the Neil Diamond 8 track by the same name. (Can’t listen to it but my heart knows the music.)

Not a real profound entry but it has been haunting me since we moved here. I got to see the oddest thing this last winter~seagulls playing in the snow, by the river, in the moonlight.

By the way....I will be praying tomorrow at noon, will you?

Your pictures are beautiful!

You do not live far from the ocean! Four hours is nothing...take it from someone who lives in Kentucky...you are lucky to live so CLOSE to the ocean! LOL

UNLIMITED JOY, can't think too well either. Yes, I will be with you tomorrow at noon. Guess we all have something in our lives that we need help with and that isn't even taking into consideration our Nation, our President, and all those who are risking their lives for us and our safety. So, we would all do well to be on our knees.
God bless you, Dear.

150K is not a small town. It's a very large town. Try living in a town with 5000!

Well, dear Friend, your words continue to amaze me and bring me limitless joy. I am trying so hard to remember that you need my prayers, you have such a joyful spirit, that I forget what you are dealing with.
I DO PRAY for you though so maybe with all these pleas going heavenward, HE will intervern. (and I can't spell either)
Love you my Friend,

Believe it or not we get gobs of seagulls in KY every year...well at least where I am by a lake. My oldest brother is buried in Tacoma. I've never been to his grave neither did I get to go to his funeral. I hope to visit Washington someday.

Have passed through that area many times. We lived in Walla Walla, Wa. for a lot of years and then moved to Oregon. Since family is still in that area we do pass through there still. My brother lives in Vancouver, Wa. Loved Washington but Oregon has become my home, well, at least till July. Then I'll be a Californian again. I love seaguls too. Thanks for sharing this info. HUGS. **Barb**

Seagulls are pretty much everywhere...wherever there's garbage, because that's what they eat. On some of our cross-country road trips when I was a teen-ager, we were all surprised to see them in places like Montana and Nebraska. I know they're just trash birds, but I love them. (I actually bought a casette tape of JLS about 5 years ago...it's around here somewhere.) Lisa :-]
