Mom's birthday

Friday, May 7, 2004

My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.

- Mark Twain

Anyone who has been reading my journal for awhile knows that I love my mother. She is my friend and my earthly guide. She is the whole of my "immediate" family aside from my husband.

Tomorrow is her birthday. Tomorrow I will have offically become her "older" sister since she only admits to being 29 years old (and yes, this is a RECENT picture.) My sidebar revels my age. I am going to link several entries I've done on her and then complete this with some new thoughts: one, two, three, four, five

Each link is full of several elements: hope, love, struggles, beauty and God. This selfless woman gave me my life at fourteen and gave up everything to raise me. She never, ever made me feel bad for being born. She never, ever said those things a mother says in frustration like....don't make me wish you weren't born....I'm sorry I kept you and on and on. She consistently made me feel wanted, loved, needed and valuable. That, I realize, is not something that all people can say. She didn't put me on guilt trips or try to manipulate me. I've been blessed with a life with a woman who is undeniably loving.

Her favorite song is "What child is this?"......it is a song that plays in my heart daily. ~"What child is this, who laid to rest, on Mary's lap is sleeping? This, this is Christ our Lord, the King, the Son of Mary." ~Still wonder where my faith comes from?

I don't....God lent me to the right soul for always until I get to Him again.

{all the paintings are copy righted by her...}

Happy, Happy birthday Mom!

merelyp.....If you follow the first link in this post you will discover that the fish you so love is part of a HUGE mural in the Florida Keys. It is one of many fish in her sea......you'll be duly impressed.

Christina, this is a beautiful entry. I found the link to your mom's artwork a while back and have it linked in my journal-links journal. Somehow she found it and even stopped by to thank me. She's so very talented. I love the picture of the woman. Happy Birthday Christina's Mom!!!!

And, did I miss your birthday somewhere? I see it now says 37 and I know you're the same age as me so that means you've had a birthday recently because I won't be 37 until November. If I missed it, I'm sorry. Happy Birthday to you too!!!

My Dearest Daughter, Once again I find myself reading your words wth tears running down my face... I wish that I could hug you right now.

Thank you for loving me the way you do. Thank you for being such a wonderful daughter; one I am so proud of and one I am so close to in age and heart.

I cannot imagine what my life would have been like without you. But I do know that I would not have had all the years of love and wonder that you have given me. I love you, Mom

Moms are the best and you've got one of the best. I've been poking around her website and looking at her art. She's a fantastic person who has raised the most beautiful daughter. Send my wishes to your Mom!

What an awesome entry this is. Your mother sounds delightful: loving, caring, approachable, all the things we need and want in a mother. Been a rough day, hon. getting ready to catch some shuteye. Hugs. *Barb*
