Weekend Assignment #3: Bad Advice A la John again!!
It's that time again: Time for your AOL Journals Weekend Assignment! Try to contain your unalloyed excitement.
This week I've been thinking about advice -- and how much of it actually turns out to be bad. Things like: "Those horizontal-striped pants will be really slimming on your hips," or "I think you should tell those leather-clad bikers that only pathetic losers wear animal skins," and so on. We've all received bad advice, and chances are good that on at least one occasion (at least), we've given bad advice. With that in mind:
Weekend Assignment #3: Recount the worst piece of advice you've ever been given, or the worst piece of advice you've ever provided. (For extra credit, do both).
The worst piece of advice I've ever received:
When I was in junior high I had a good friend who was just slightly offbeat. Our class was getting ready to go on an overnight field trip to California and she thought it would be a good idea if we dyed our hair bright easter egg colors (our whole group was natural blondes) completely going against the advice of the teachers who emphatically said NOT to draw attention to ourselves. We showed up with our bags and our rainbow hair and got sent to the principal's office instead of California. Yikes...did you know that food color is really difficult to remove from blond hair?
The worst advice I ever gave:
(I've got to meditate on this one to narrow it down. The choices are soooooo endless as I have foot & mouth disease.)

More fun! Where do I find these writing prompts? Thanks for your words left in my journal, Life In Full Spectrum. I've been really down and your words encouraged me. :)

LOL!! Yeah I can imagine how hard food color is to get out of blonde hair! Thank God that wasn't a fad when I was in school. Have a good day! Robyn

OMG I would never have had the nerve to do that. Great story and I'm sure that's one day you won't forget.

You were just twenty years ahead of the times... Now, pastel hair is no big deal. Lisa :-]
