I'd cry if it weren't so funny...

I want to write a long and delicate tale about my day today; however, the best parts would have to be edited out.

Sooooo instead I'll give you the two cent version: I was almost fired from the PTO today. Simply because I am new and "failed to meet the expectation."

It is a strictly volunteer thing too.

The worst part is it would be the SECOND volunteer position to can my butt....but I talked my way out of it.

Hurt my feelings....I mean who gets FIRED from the PTO? Really.

  2. OMG sweetie, those people are nuts for wanting to fire you!

It is important to keep in mind that there are jelous people in this world that see people like you as a threat. It sounds to me like this may well be what you are up against. Good for you for talking your way out of the situation.

    On the other hand...

If you do end up getting the boot anyway, simply smile and say
"thank you." Don't say another word, then calmly, with grace and dignity, walk out of their office. In this way you won't burn any bridges and best of all, you'll make them wonder for days what in the world you thanked them for! Plus they won't be able to justify their final decision. When you get to your car, call me.

    Love you heart and soul,

    Fra'pa

  4. It could be a mixed blessing. I served two terms as a PTA President and PRAYED for term limits! PTA/PTO's can get a bit petty. Remember the old song, "Harper Valley PTA?" (grin)

  5. Your killing me... They are dying for people to step up and they have the balls to fire you.... Not in AZ... they just want warm bodies... and with our weather that's anyone...

Nice to see you stop by...
    Miss ya,

  6. i was fired or let go from volunteering in an old folks home when i was in my early twenties. apparently i spoke up too much about all the nonsense and had too many opinions on what things could be done to improve the peoples life there..

i realized then, that not everyone wants to do the better way. the status quo is sometimes easier...

they felt no need to take them out for some sunlight or stimulate them in different ways and love them or care for them as they were actually human beings...

don't feel bad that this happens. you probably ruffled some feathers but we know how great your heart is and in all likely they don't want any one coming in who have brains, looks and hearts..

we love you. we know you. we believe in you and your heart and your intentions.

unfortunately, all are not like you. if it was hon, our world be sooooo different.

take their attitude as a compliment that you are not like them.

hugs and my love to you and your family. xo

  7. As a former PTO president....I can't imagine firing ANY volunteer short of someone who steals from the organization. Any little bit helps....and everyone has their limitations due to a myriad of obligations.

    My advice to you...
Underestimate what you're able to take on. Then, you might surprise them. And if they end up firing you....IT'S THEIR LOSS!!!
