color essay

my essay disappeared.....Hopefully I saved it to word last night....If not hopefully my mom did.

I did save it!!!!!

~~~
Being the only child of an artist has its advantages; immersion in color has been as natural as breathing for me. I have accidentally been schooled in the realms of artistry simply by living in her home. By the time I was 10 her homework had taught me the subtle differences between purple and violet, as well as teaching me the many tastes of orange and the smell of vibrant yellow that bleeds ever softly into lemon sorbet. Even my bedroom was a violent storm of pastel rainbows that danced along my walls, accenting my unicorns and rain forest dreams quiet nicely.
But that is the view from childhood. As a girl-child, I railed against my mother's wishes by marrying the Wrong Man 19 year's ago today. And I silently slipped into the whiteness and tans of unhappiness. There was no room in my world for even pastel colors with the life I led then, until Gil helped me rediscover colors on a God level. I started to slowly scatter them like bananas on cereal, not a whole banana but just a fragrant drop or too.
Gil's death, in my heart of hearts, is best explained as going to a balloon race.... The colors surround you, absorb you and then release you into the forever azure sky. When his balloon set sail my buried treasure of colors returned to my soul and have rooted deeply in my life.
My favorite color??
My toenails are ALWAYS electric blue, my Chevy blazer is brilliant green, my couch is solid blood red, bright yellow daffodils are God's funniest flower (proving His sense of humor) and therefore my favorite; my mother's eyes are topaz and purple roams throughout every room in my home.
I am mystified by Van Gogh, CÃzanne, Picasso, Maimon and Gerkin (mom).
I intend to eat colors every day I have left here on earth.
My favorite color??
All of them; every flavor, every scent, every tone, every hue.
Although my husband would tell you I like: Blue, green and purple.
    You had me at LIKE BANANAS ON CEREAL . . . I swallowed these words so I don't need cereal today. I am absolutely satisfied. This is magnificent. It simply transcends a contest. I'm so happy that I read it and was inspired.
    Thank you for being a blessing in my life. Your colors are simply radiant, Christina!
    Bless you.
    Cyndy
    (PS ~ I DID describe you in one word simply because that was your brightest color in the moment.)
    This is such a beautiful essay. I am so glad that you wrote. I am still absorbing it, and I said to someone else.... where have YOU been all these months? So much heart in your words. I too favor blue toenails, and we tell our niece that she has to eat all her colors every day.
    The is an undercurrent of joy and zest here that inspires me. VERY well put. judi
